Sue Medley - Maybe the Next Time - A Love Ballad

Standin’ in the phone booth and I’m
not sure what time it is but I
don’t think it really matters.
It’s been a while since a talked to him.
I hold my breath as the telephone starts to ring.
Will he say; “How are ‘ya? How ‘ya been?”
And when I ask if we can get together . . . what will he say?
What will he say?

Finally a familiar hello.
My hand tightens around the telephone.
“It’s been a while my little darlin’.
I hope you’re doin’ well.

> I hope we’re still friends.”
We talked for a while ’till he said;
“I gotta go.
There’s someone waitin’ for me.
I had to let you know.”

(Refrain)
And maybe the next time
love will make it’s way through.
And maybe the next time
old hearts will turn new.

No-one counts the reasons
why things change just like the seasons.
Change inside. (It’s living time.)
Maybe on the horizon
there’ll be someone to confide in,
[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]
someone new.
But why can’t I be with you?

There’s something weighing heavy in my soul.
The world seems frozen, seems so cold.
There’ll be no celebration of love tonight.
This party ended a long time ago.
Guess I’ll pick up all the broken pieces
and glue them back together;
back on the shelf.
Oh - ahhh . . .

(Refrain x 2)

Maybe the next time . . .
(maybe the next time)
Maybe the next time . . .
(maybe the next time)

Maybe the next time.

You can lay part of the blame on high gas prices by these idiots who manage your pension plan. They have recently discovered that they can take your weekly pension stipend from your employer and simply speculate on oil futures driving up the price of anything energy related, and hence the price you pay at the pump.

And not only the price you pay at the pump, but everything oil and energy related, from plastics to car tires, to the flight ticket to the ashpalt on your road and the shingles on your roof.

When did the American worker become so naive as to let these idiots managing trillions of dollars in private and compulsory pension funds get away with this kind of silliness; ie that we pay them to speculate instead of invest?

And what happens when price of oil starts to plummet, do they simply get to say oops..and walk away……..like the idiots at Enron did?

If I had to

Move a mountain for u

I would do it

I could do it

A shovelful at a time

For your smile

I’d walk an extra mile

I’d walk that mile

A thousand times

And it would

Still seem so worthwile

SIMPLE MINDS

Don’t you look back on a big lost world
Crying out tomorrow
Don’t you look down like the heroes say
Come tell me all about it
Take me to the streets where the bonfires burn
Take me in your arms and I’ll fade away
When I hear you say what you got to say
Anywhere you go, you know I’ll still be waiting
All the things she said, she said
Little darling close your eyes, there’ll be no compromising
Of all the things she said, she said

Throw me to the street where the heartbeats beating
“Beating all around me”
To the peaceful revolution
And the perfect wave, surround me
Tell me ’bout the ocean moving in slow motion
I see it glitter in the sun
Then it’s freezing in the moonlight
Never look back, never look back, never look away

If freedom comes and goes, you know I’ll still be waiting
All the things she said, she said
You’ve fought the fight so long, no surrender to temptation
Of all the things she said, she said

Stars will fall out for you
Luck will surrender
I’m calling out to you

Oh to be near you in the first morning light
I’d be with you, I dream about you
If I could leave here, I would leave here tonight
I’d be with you, I’d stay with you tonight
Tonight

Anywhere you go, you know I’ll still be waiting
Of all the things she said, she said
When I look into your eyes, I see a new day rising
Oh all the things she said, she said
Through the eyes of love, and to never know what hate is
Of all the things she said, she said
She said, this is our time, she said, this is our place
This is the space my heart wants to be
Little darling close your eyes, there’ll be no compromising
All the things she said, she said

Delerium & Sarah McLachlan - Silence (fades sanctuary mix)

Give me release
witness me
I am outside
give me peace

Heaven holds a sense of wonder
and I wanted to believe
that I’d get caught up
when the rage in me subsides

In this white wave
I am sinking
in this silence
in this white wave
in this silence
I believe

Passion chokes the flower
’til she cries no more
possessing all the beauty
hungry still for more

Heaven holds a sense of wonder…

I can’t help this longing
comfort me
I can’t hold it all in
if you won’t let me

Heaven holds a sense of wonder…

In this white wave
I am sinking
in this silence
in this white wave
in this silence
I believe

I have seen you
in this white wave
you are silent
you are breathing
in this white wave
I am free

X-Country Skiing-Free Skate Technique

A good video to help you learn or improve cross country skating.
It helps if you have skate skis, but classic skis work ok. Removing the kick wax before skiing will improve the glide.
If there are no skating trails, try snowmobile trails in your area.
Just use some caution around snowmobilers.

img_0257.jpg The environmental movement is beginning to turn many people off, including myself.

I do not have a problem trying to be green. I am an environmentalist.

Is it possible to be one, but doubt things like global warming, the banning of plastic bags, question the expense and carbon footprint of municipal recycling projects, and wonder if hybrids are really good for the environment, without being dammed and labeled as a heretic?

I do have a problem with being goaded and constantly reminded to be green and drive a small car or hybrid or take public transit, while I see wealthier ilk flying off on exotic vacations and the environmentalists say nothing about the massive carbon footprint of air travel.

I do have an issue with the environmental organizations harassing our politicians into making car manufacurers produce cleaner vehicles while any Joe can drive as much as he likes. What is the point of a manufacturer producing an expensive environmentally mandated vehicle that produces 2 grams less emissions per mile while the public has unrestricted access to gasoline?

And really what is the point of driving a small vehicle while I see huge mansions going up in the suburbs and the environmentalists say absolutely nothing about the huge carbon footprint involved in the building and maintaining of these monoliths?

It is starting to become evident to many that environmentalism has really just become social elitism. Al Gore, Scharzenegger and the Hollywood crowd can do as they please, while pointing the finger at lesser mortals and moralizing about the need to save the planet. The jaded public is just starting to say “you hypocrites” in return, and smirking at the downsizing of thier Hummer fleets, the selling of an extra mansion etc.

And to put a tax on emissions from smokestacks and tailpipes is just plain ludricous. Silly and irresponsible because the majority of nations who gleefully signed Kyoto are failing socialist states who were streetsmart enough to see Kyoto as a good blame game and a never ending source of funds via carbon taxes to prop up the failed myth of socialism . If these leaders simply do not care about thier own people and keep them repressed, what makes the naive western politicians think they even care about the environment? Kyoto was seen by the socialists as a clever blame game, a tool for blaming all the ills of their backwards nations on the “greedy” west.

And could have the rise of environmentalism come at a more opportune time? With the collapse of Communism in the early 90s, there needed to be something to prop up socialism in the world. What better way to deceive the west than by using Kyoto and the hype of global warming to do it?

And the idea of blaming European colonialism to blame all of Africas ills on the west was starting to wear thin after 60 years of no progress. Was there a better way to keep the blame game going than by using environmetalism and the “polluting” western world to keep the myth of developing nations alive, just in the clever form of another myth like global warming?

img_0243.jpgNo this picture was not taken near the North Pole or in the Canadian Arctic.

I am really glad I had the camera with me and I stopped on this windswept cold highway just 8 miles north of North Dakota close to the US/Canadian border .With the wind chill the temperature was close to -40F at noon yesterday.

The photo just shows you how ridiculous and far fetched the whole contrived nonsense of climate change/global warming reallyhas become.

While Al Gore ,and other crazy alarmists are herding 15000 of your elected politicians to the sunny resorts of Bali in the southern hemisphere to do some more of thier expensive tax funded grandstanding to prop up thier inconvenient truth nonsense, North Americans have been shivering through what may become the coldest December on record.

Why doesnt the UN, Al Gore and others hold thier annual alarmist GW meetings and do thier grandstanding, thier incessant scolding, thier handwringing in the middle of winter in the Northern Hemisphere?

Could it be that thier carefully contrived nonsense would be exposed for the silliness it really is when Al Gore is standing in a snowbank here and shivering while moralising to the rest of us?

No , he’s smart enough to know he would would look totally ridiculous in front of the CNN cameras.

But in sunny Bali, the odds are in his favor to keep thier convenient environmental lies intact.

Delerium

The lovely Kristy Thirsk of Delerium. This is a remix of the classic Delerium song “Flowers Become Screens”

Delerium - Flowers Become Screens lyrics

Soaks my skin - through to the bone
Pain is nothing that a downpour won’t erase
Rain - you can’t hold on to it
A treasure you cannot frame
Rain - somehow I’m drawn to it
I feel engaged, one and the same
When heavens dressing beads off my face
The pain is nothing that a downpour won’t erase

Aishiteruze Baby AMV ~ Delerium - A Poem for Byzantium

This song is off Delerium’s “Poem” CD. Vocals by Joanna Stevens

Delerium - A Poem For Byzantium Lyrics

Unbidden shadows of you formed yesterday
I ran away to a room here on the bay
Interrupted life again, another new beginning
Where the silence echoes you’re no longer with me

Here and now, i feel that i’m embracing freedom
Even though i may be alone, but that’s ok

Through the darkness i would walk in the streets
Confessions never seemed to provide me with a release
Held me down and tried to cure me tried to give me reason
But nothing could separate this burdened mind from me

Here and now, i feel that i’m embracing freedom
Even though i may be alone, but that’s ok
And looking out to a different sky will disengage me
Absence is never the answer, i know, but it serves as my shade

I do not seek and do not intend to find
A calmer ocean or a sun that will never rise
My world will never change and time will bring you to mythoughts
And i’ll move on and then forget you all over again
Moving on, i can forgive you all over again

Here and now, i feel that i’m embracing freedom
Even though i may be alone, but that’s ok
And looking out onto a different sky it seems so easy
Absence is never the answer, i know, but it serves as my shade

Triumph des Willens - Adolf Hitler Schlussrede

Being a German a generation removed from the Nazi madness, I find it fascinating to watch Hitlers speeches to the German nation on YouTube.

These video archives of probably the most powerful orator in history, can inspire adoration or loathing of the man.

I can see now how the impoverished German masses, humiliated by the west’s dictates after Germany’s defeat in WW1, could idolize him in an era of weakwilled politicians. A bankrupt, humiliated, starving German race capitulated not only to the unreasonable demands of the west, but also to the clever machinations of a madman who fully understood the Teutonic mind .

The torchlight ceremonies, the pomp and pageantry, the Wagnerian music , the symbolism, the mass meetings, a powerful orator inspiring and inciting the masses all appealed to the Teutonic psyche humiliated by the bitter aftermath of WW1 . Hitler and the Nazis were only too happy to fill this void .

What is a humbling thought is, without the hindsight of history, would I have adored the man, or loathed him?

I do not know.

.

In certain situations it does not make any economic or environmental sense to buy these bulbs, no matter how much they are hyped.

Lets say you live in a temperate zone where your house is heated by a gas or oil furnace and you get on the environmental bandwagon and install these bulbs. The bulbs are of course much cooler and therefore radiate less heat energy than normal incandescent bulbs.

What happens is that the heat coming from these bulbs actually heat the room and the house by a small amount. In fact your gas furnace now has to make up the difference to maintain the set thermostat temperature by staying on a few seconds longer each time. Over the course of the winter heating season this adds up to a few hours each month. So by installing these “energy saving bulbs” you simply make your fossil fuel fired furnace stay on longer in maintaining the dwelling temperature, thus increasing your carbon footprint.

So, if you’re like me and your electrical energy comes from a hydro dam or nuclear or windpower , installing these bulbs actually increases C02 emssions by a significant amount over the heating season.

Think twice before you buy these expensive bulbs. In my experience they are no more durable than incandescent, yet many times more expensive.

And they only make sense in certain situations,

1.If your electricity is already generated by coal gas or oil, and your home heated by fossil fuels.

2.During hot summer days when you use your airconditioning a lot.

The Bangles - Hazy Shade Of Winter

I think its the right time of year for this song. The Bangles, doing a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s Hazy Shade of Winter. They actually do a better version than S&G, in my opinion.

Time, time ,time, see what’s become of me

While I looked around for my possibilities

I was so hard to please

But look around, leaves are brown

And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hear the salvation army band

Down by the riverside, it’s got to be a better ride

Than what you have planned

Carry your cup in your hand

And look around now, leaves are brown now

And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hang on to your hopes, my friend

That’s an easy thing to say, but if your hopes should pass away

Simply pretend

That you can build them up again

Look around, the grass is high, its the springtime of my life

Ahhh, seasons change with the scenery

Weaving time in a tapestry

Wont you stop and remember me

At any convenient time

Funny how my memory slips, looking over manuscripts

Of unpublished rhyme

Drinking my vodka and lime

But look around, leaves are brown now

And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Look around,leaves are brown

There’s a patch of snow on the ground

Simple Minds vs Coldplay - Don’t You Forget About Coldplay?

I dont know what to make of this but its an interesting concept actually. A mashup of Simple Minds 1983′ hit ”Dont You Forget About Me, and Coldplay’s “Clocks” circa 2003?

The Corrs - My lagan love

A classic Irish tune, performed by the Corrs.
Whether vocally or instrumentally performed by violin, piano or harp, this is always a superb piece.

Phil Coulter does an amazing piano rendition of it, as well as Celtic Woman on the violin.

img_0001.jpgAccording to the logic the environmentalists use, a VW TDI should be ”greener” than a Prius Hybrid. Since environmentalists go by gas mileage figures alone in targeting different vehicles, why then is a VW TDI which gets better mileage than any hybrid vehicle, left out of the environmental hype?

It is almost comical, that the same environmental attitude which condemns SUVs because of thier poor gas mileage and hence their “earth wrecking status” , will endlessly hype and endorse hybrid vehicles simply because they are hybrids. Even though they get much poorer mileage than a VW TDI diesel, which can easily beat a hybrids mileage by 10-20%, the politicians and thier environmental counterparts will go to great lengths to make the public buy a hybrid using large rebates. While the efficient VW TDI diesel sits unnoticed by the environmental movement, the Prius and other hybrids are in the spotlight, getting there by using some very flawed environmental logic.

And the Europeans, who have elevated the most reliable, economical and efficient engine the world has ever known to new heights of environmental friendliness and fuel efficiency, are closer to meeting thier Kyoto goals through the massive public use of the diesel engine in consumer vehicles.

Canadians and Americans are spending huge amounts of public tax dollars in a futile effort to become greener through the misguided hype of hybrid technology.

img_0001.jpg Ive always enjoyed listening to Kristy Thirsk’s music. She is well known for her work with Delerium. Some would actually call her the original voice of Delerium. She is probably most famous for “Flowers Become Screens’, a gorgeous song featuring her amazing ethereal vocals. Also “Incantation” an upbeat trance number . Both of these gorgeous songs feature even better dance remixes on Delerium’s Oddyssey album.

She has a new solo CD out called “Souvenir”. It has become one of my favourite albums. I never get tired of her wonderful vocals. Standout tracks include “Run Away”,”Take You On”, and “Over it”.

She also has a MYSPACE page, if you want to take a listen to “Run Away”

And she is very beautiful…..sigh.

The Rose of Avalanche - Always There

A great song by UK band The Rose of Avalanche. Too bad about the sonic quality, this grand song is amazing to listen to on CD.

Now if I could only get the video “LA Rain” by this band too.
